Winter’s Wisdom

Wait and wait for the earth to rotate
Winter has now come again,
The air becomes dense and bands together,
As all seek warmth from one another,
Shorter are the days and the Sun
Shines few,
Longer are the nights and colder
The morning’s dew.
Within darkness we find ourselves,
The cost of family and friends,
Company that burns with life’s spirit,
Against that dead cold in defiance.
For those who do not understand,
And complain about the chilling touch,
Understand not the beauty of absence,
And what it tries to teach you.

Do not think about the cold O Child,
It is as simple as that,
Just wait and wait for the earth to rotate,
For Spring will arrive with
Patience and Faith.
The trees shed as they are wiser than all,
And all living things prepare when the Leaves Fall.
And they hear the Mother hibernate,
A time to be dormant and resourceful.
Winter is as much a test as it is a teacher,
For those who are ready will survive,
As it is those who think of the cold
Whence it is warm,

Will live to feel Spring’s revive.

Wait and wait for the earth to rotate,
Winter will haunt only the fools,
Impatient and reckless and full of
Complaint,
Those who are defiant only to the Self,
Attain not Winter’s Wisdom but wrath,
Forever freezing in their own betrayal,
Forgetting that
The absence of what goes around,
Is the presence of what comes around.
