A Future of Fantasy

All it takes is a glance from a woman,
And a man will gleam and glare
Looking for all those children
That could be. That could be.

The future holds a power,
A power that is unknown
With a blend of fear and hope
For all that couldn’t be.

All the children seat themselves
And look up at the parents to reconcile
But the glance turns away
Now all that there is, shouldn’t be.

Only the fools revel in hope
For a fear of a fear of fear
Indulge in a future of fantasy
And then cry for what wouldn’t be.
