13 Cigarettes

In 1 perpetual pack I find a 13 column,
2 keep me company, to make me solemn,
Smoke 3 to get 10, enough for the day,
Any more it would be 4, too much to pay,
Continuous is counting before 6 is 5,
7 is a great number, one that is truly alive,
Contain a company in a cube to get 8,
Slowly I realize, I am sealing my fate,
Into fear I will give not, squaring smoke for 9,
Convincing myself I will be just fine,
Before I know my count is 11,
Ash and smoke has become my heaven,
And the fire of 12 calls me back to hell,
Repeating a story I am bound to tell,
For after that I am left with none,
I walk back to store saying I’m done.
